About the Bassac Cruise Fleet

The Bassac Cruise offers an authentic and engaging way to explore the Mekong Delta, providing voyages that range from short to medium durations. This fleet comprises two distinct traditional wooden boats, Bassac II and Bassac III, both thoughtfully designed to reflect the classic aesthetic of traditional rice barges. These vessels provide a cozy and genuine cruising atmosphere through the intricate river systems of the Mekong.

Bassac II features two decks and ten cabins, accommodating up to twenty guests, making it ideal for discovery tours along the river. Its main deck houses eight cabins, including twin and double configurations, each with its own private bathroom. On this deck, guests will also find the ship's main dining area and bar, offering a relaxed environment for meals and socializing. The upper deck includes two additional double cabins with en-suite facilities, a spacious lounge that can double as an extra dining space, and a shaded outdoor area at the stern for al fresco meals, all while enjoying the river scenery.

Bassac III, with its two passenger decks and twelve cabins, provides an intimate journey for up to twenty-four passengers. This vessel beautifully merges traditional allure with contemporary comforts. Eight cabins, consisting of six twin and two double options, are located on the main deck, each equipped with a private bathroom. The main dining room and a bar on this deck create a welcoming space. The upper deck features four double cabins with private bathrooms, a panoramic lounge, and a second bar. A shaded outdoor dining area at the aft allows guests to enjoy meals amidst the captivating river views.

Operating primarily along the well-known Mang Thit and Co Chien Rivers, the Bassac Cruise allows guests to witness the lively Cai Be floating market and other characteristic scenes of the Mekong Delta. The design and operational style are centered on offering guests a profound connection with the local culture and landscapes.

Absolutely magical – exceeded every single expectation

We have cruised extensively around the world and this cruise sits comfortably among the very best. The attention to detail is remarkable – from the fresh orchid in our cabin each morning to the thoughtfully curated itinerary. Our guides were knowledgeable and passionate, the chef was outstanding, and the overall experience was seamless. Vietnam has stolen our hearts.

Decent cruise but with room for improvement

The bay itself is absolutely stunning and worth visiting by any means. Our reservations are with the cruise: the cabin was a little tired and due for some renovation, meal portions were small for the price, and the busy tour schedule left little time for simple relaxation. A reasonable introduction to the bay but we would compare other options before booking again.

Fabulous in every detail – already planning our return

An absolute gem. We researched extensively before booking and this cruise outperformed every review we had read. The crew-to-guest ratio meant we always felt attended to without ever feeling crowded. The excursions were varied and well-paced. Watching the fishing village come alive at dusk from the water was a sight I will never forget. Simply outstanding.

Pleasant experience on the water, crew very helpful

Thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water. The cruise struck a good balance between organised activities and free time. Food was consistently good with a few genuinely excellent dishes standing out. The crew were attentive and the cabin comfortable. Small quibble: the wifi was quite slow, but given the remote location that is entirely understandable. Would recommend without hesitation.

Very enjoyable cruise with just a few minor niggles

An enjoyable and memorable experience. Highlights included the kayaking through the arches, the sunset cocktails, and the genuinely impressive seafood dinner. Our cabin was comfortable and the bathroom well-appointed. I'd have loved slightly more time at some of the scenic spots, but this is a small gripe in the context of an otherwise wonderful trip.

Highly recommended with a couple of small reservations

Wonderful trip that came very close to perfection. The cabin was spacious and clean, and the daily fresh fruit arrangement was a lovely touch. Food quality was high – especially the seafood dishes. We would have appreciated slightly more flexibility in the excursion schedule as we felt a little rushed at one or two stops. That aside, an excellent cruise we would happily book again.

Five stars without a single doubt

I am not usually one to write reviews but I felt compelled to share what an extraordinary experience this was. Every detail was thought through – the local fruit welcome drink, the briefing about bay conservation, the optional sunrise tai chi on deck. We felt we were in genuinely good hands throughout. The kayaking into the dark cavern was terrifying and thrilling in equal measure.

Some real highs and some disappointing lows

A mixed experience overall. The natural beauty of the bay is genuinely breathtaking and we are glad we went. On the downside, the food did not quite live up to expectations – some dishes were excellent but others were mediocre. The schedule felt rushed with not enough time to absorb the scenery. The crew were polite but seemed stretched thin.

Breathtaking scenery paired with impeccable service

Honestly the best travel experience of my entire life. The crew were warm, professional, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making guests happy. Every meal was a culinary event. The squid fishing by night was hilarious fun, and visiting the floating fishing village gave us a perspective on local life we had not expected. Five stars is an understatement.

Good experience overall – worth every cent

A genuinely lovely experience on stunning waters. The staff were friendly and seemed to take pride in their work. The cave exploration was a highlight – our guide made it genuinely educational. The cabin's air conditioning was a little noisy at night but the team resolved it quickly when we mentioned it. Very solid cruise overall.

Four-star experience that delivered on its promises

A thoroughly enjoyable cruise in one of the world's most beautiful locations. The service was warm and efficient for the most part, though we occasionally had to wait longer than expected during meal service. The kayaking excursion was a standout – our guide was fantastic. The cabin could have used slightly better soundproofing but this was a minor point. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Great overall experience – highly recommended

A very good cruise that delivered on its core promise of beautiful scenery and quality service. The cooking class was unexpectedly brilliant – we came home and recreated the dishes for friends. The cabin size was appropriate, though more storage would have been welcome. Overall a highly positive experience and the value for money is genuine.

Exceptional in absolutely every way

My partner and I booked this cruise for our anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. The kayaking through hidden grottos was awe-inspiring, and watching the sunrise from our private balcony over the misty bay was something out of a dream. The staff remembered our names from day one and the food was restaurant-quality. An experience that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
