Vientiane - Laos Laid-Back Capital on the Mekong

Patuxai (Victory Gate) is Vientiane most recognizable landmark, a grand triumphal arch built in 1960s with Lao decorative motifs, offering rooftop views over the wide boulevards of the capital.

That Luang (Great Stupa) is the most sacred monument in Laos and the national symbol, a spectacular golden Buddhist stupa first built in the 3rd century and rebuilt in the 16th century.

Wat Sisaket was built in 1818 and is the oldest temple in Vientiane, famous for its ornate cloister walls containing 6,840 niches filled with Buddha images of all sizes.

Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan) is a surreal sculpture park 25 km from Vientiane on the Mekong River bank, featuring 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues including a massive reclining Buddha.
