The Mekong Eyes Classic, a traditional wooden rice barge, offers an intimate river journey through the Mekong Delta, blending local craftsmanship with modern comfort.

The Mekong Eyes Classic: A Traditional River Journey

The Mekong Eyes Classic Cruise draws inspiration from traditional rice barges, offering a journey that blends local heritage with modern comforts. Constructed from premium wood by skilled artisans in the Mekong Delta, this vessel maintains the region's rich boat-building traditions while serving as a contemporary floating hotel. Its name reflects an ancient "eye-opening" ritual, where protective eyes are painted on the bow to invite good fortune and ensure safe passage along the river.

Intimate Comfort on the Water

Designed for an intimate experience, the Mekong Eyes Classic accommodates up to 28 guests across 14 well-appointed cabins. The ship's layout emphasizes comfort and connection with the surrounding environment, providing a serene escape on the water. Guests can anticipate attentive service from a dedicated crew, enhancing the overall sense of hospitality.

Panoramic Views from Every Cabin

Cabins on the main deck offer a private sanctuary, each measuring 12 square meters and featuring essential amenities for a relaxing stay. Large panoramic windows in every room ensure continuous views of the passing Mekong scenery, bringing the beauty of the delta directly into the living space.

Authentic Dining and Relaxed Atmosphere

Dining aboard is a relaxed affair, with meals served in the elegant restaurant on the upper deck. This venue provides sweeping river views, complementing the authentic Mekong flavors and international dishes prepared by the onboard chef. The sundeck offers an open-air space with comfortable loungers, ideal for enjoying the sunshine, observing local life, or simply appreciating the tranquil river landscapes.

Guest Reviews Summary

Guests consistently rate the Mekong Eyes Classic highly, with an overall score of 4.5 out of 5 based on 97 reviews. Feedback frequently highlights the exceptional quality of the staff, noting their attentiveness and helpfulness. The onboard food also receives praise for its excellence. While the boat itself is described as comfortable and relaxing, some guests have commented on the age of the vessel and the compact size of the cabins. The floating markets, while a key attraction, were sometimes found to be less active than anticipated by a few travelers.

A flawless trip from embarkation to disembarkation

An absolute gem. We researched extensively before booking and this cruise outperformed every review we had read. The crew-to-guest ratio meant we always felt attended to without ever feeling crowded. The excursions were varied and well-paced. Watching the fishing village come alive at dusk from the water was a sight I will never forget. Simply outstanding.

Five stars without a single doubt

This cruise delivered on every promise and then some. The natural beauty of the bay is staggering, but what really sets this cruise apart is the quality of the team. From the chef to the housekeeping staff to the excursion guides, everyone was exceptional. The timetable was perfectly paced – never rushed, never boring. An absolute masterpiece of a journey.

Highly recommended with a couple of small reservations

An enjoyable and memorable experience. Highlights included the kayaking through the arches, the sunset cocktails, and the genuinely impressive seafood dinner. Our cabin was comfortable and the bathroom well-appointed. I'd have loved slightly more time at some of the scenic spots, but this is a small gripe in the context of an otherwise wonderful trip.

Not bad, but not exceptional either

Three stars feels fair – some genuinely lovely moments, some disappointments. The staff were always polite and the setting is obviously world-class. The food ranged from excellent (the steamed fish with ginger) to quite poor (the breakfast buffet was limited and lukewarm). Kayaking through the lagoon was a wonderful experience. Worth doing, but higher standards would have been achievable at this price.

Great value and genuinely breathtaking scenery

Wonderful trip that came very close to perfection. The cabin was spacious and clean, and the daily fresh fruit arrangement was a lovely touch. Food quality was high – especially the seafood dishes. We would have appreciated slightly more flexibility in the excursion schedule as we felt a little rushed at one or two stops. That aside, an excellent cruise we would happily book again.

Beautiful setting, but service was inconsistent

Some genuinely wonderful moments, particularly the sunrise over the karsts and the night squid fishing. However, the cabin was noticeably smaller than advertised and had a slight musty smell. Meal quality was inconsistent. The tour guide was knowledgeable but spoke very quickly, making it hard to follow. A decent experience but we expected more for the price.

A memorable trip with some excellent standout moments

We really enjoyed our time aboard and the scenery was every bit as spectacular as described. The cabin was comfortable and our steward was attentive and friendly. The food was generally very good, though the dinner menu on the second night felt a little repetitive. The sunset cruise on the upper deck was a real highlight. Overall a very positive experience and we would recommend it without hesitation.

Okay experience – expected a little more for the cost

Decent experience but with room for improvement. Positives: stunning scenery, friendly staff, interesting cave excursion. Negatives: the cabin had a faulty bathroom fixture that was not fixed during our stay despite being reported, the dinner menu repeated itself over two nights, and the price felt high relative to the overall experience. Nice but not exceptional.

A once-in-a-lifetime adventure we will never forget

Travelling with our family of four, we were a little nervous about whether a luxury cruise would suit children. Completely unfounded! The staff were wonderful with our kids, the activities kept everyone engaged, and the food had something for every taste. My children are already asking when we can return. The memory of floating through those magnificent limestone towers will stay with all of us forever.

Four-star experience that delivered on its promises

A genuinely lovely experience on stunning waters. The staff were friendly and seemed to take pride in their work. The cave exploration was a highlight – our guide made it genuinely educational. The cabin's air conditioning was a little noisy at night but the team resolved it quickly when we mentioned it. Very solid cruise overall.

Perfect honeymoon – romantic and utterly magical

From the moment we stepped aboard, everything was perfection. Our cabin was beautifully appointed with panoramic views of the limestone karsts. The crew anticipated our every need without being intrusive. Evening dinner on the sundeck under the stars was a highlight we will talk about for years. The cooking class was genuinely fun and educational. We came home with memories we will cherish forever.

Great overall experience – highly recommended

A thoroughly enjoyable cruise in one of the world's most beautiful locations. The service was warm and efficient for the most part, though we occasionally had to wait longer than expected during meal service. The kayaking excursion was a standout – our guide was fantastic. The cabin could have used slightly better soundproofing but this was a minor point. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Outstanding experience on iconic Vietnamese waters

Five stars and I would give more if I could. We joined this cruise as inexperienced travellers in Southeast Asia and the crew made us feel completely at ease from the very first moment. The cultural insights shared by our guide were deeply enriching. The night fishing under the stars was magical. We returned home genuinely changed by the experience.

Lovely cruise – almost everything we hoped for

A very good cruise that delivered on its core promise of beautiful scenery and quality service. The cooking class was unexpectedly brilliant – we came home and recreated the dishes for friends. The cabin size was appropriate, though more storage would have been welcome. Overall a highly positive experience and the value for money is genuine.
