Introducing the Song Xanh Sampan

The Song Xanh Sampan provides a truly intimate and personalized journey through the captivating Mekong Delta. Launched in 2009 and operated by Victoria Cruises, this traditional wooden vessel is meticulously handcrafted, embodying the timeless charm and local character of the region. It is specifically designed for guests seeking an exclusive river adventure, far from larger group tours.

Each sampan is a private sanctuary, ideal for individuals, romantic couples, or families desiring a unique and quiet exploration. The interiors showcase elegant bamboo and rattan craftsmanship, reflecting authentic Vietnamese traditions and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere on the water. With just one dedicated cabin, the entire boat serves as your personal floating retreat.

Comfortable Accommodation

The main accommodation area on the Song Xanh Sampan features a spacious 15-square-meter cabin. This thoughtfully designed space includes a comfortable king-size bed and is complemented by a connected living room, offering a relaxed environment to unwind. While the living room does not have air conditioning, the bedroom is equipped for comfort during the night. Guests will find essential amenities to ensure a pleasant stay.

Authentic Dining Experiences

Dining on board the Song Xanh Sampan is an integral part of the cultural experience. Guests can anticipate enjoying meals prepared with local flavors, often served in picturesque settings. The itinerary for private charters typically includes breakfast and lunch on board, alongside special experiences like a candlelit dinner for two at a historical ancient house, complete with a bottle of wine.

Engaging Activities and Personalized Service

Beyond the comfort of the sampan, a private charter includes a traditional rowing boat, or "xuong," allowing guests to navigate smaller canals and discover the Mekong's hidden nooks. Supported by a dedicated crew and an English-speaking guide, passengers can delve into local life, visit artisan workshops, and explore vibrant markets. The emphasis is on a tailored experience, ensuring every aspect of the journey caters to individual preferences.

A flawless trip from embarkation to disembarkation

Five stars and I would give more if I could. We joined this cruise as inexperienced travellers in Southeast Asia and the crew made us feel completely at ease from the very first moment. The cultural insights shared by our guide were deeply enriching. The night fishing under the stars was magical. We returned home genuinely changed by the experience.

Five stars without a single doubt

Honestly the best travel experience of my entire life. The crew were warm, professional, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making guests happy. Every meal was a culinary event. The squid fishing by night was hilarious fun, and visiting the floating fishing village gave us a perspective on local life we had not expected. Five stars is an understatement.

An unforgettable journey through Vietnam's karst landscape

Travelling with our family of four, we were a little nervous about whether a luxury cruise would suit children. Completely unfounded! The staff were wonderful with our kids, the activities kept everyone engaged, and the food had something for every taste. My children are already asking when we can return. The memory of floating through those magnificent limestone towers will stay with all of us forever.

Very good cruise with impressive highlights throughout

We had a great time and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The breakfast spread each morning was impressive and the chef clearly knows his craft. The complimentary welcome drink and cold towels on arrival set a great tone. Service dipped slightly during busy periods but the team were always smiling and willing to help. Would recommend to anyone visiting Vietnam.

Outstanding experience on iconic Vietnamese waters

Travelling as a group of six friends, we could not have chosen better. The sundeck was perfect for our evening gatherings, the crew kept the wine flowing, and the excursions were varied enough that everyone found something they loved. The cooking demonstration with the chef was a delightful bonus. This cruise converted all six of us into Vietnam fans for life.

Enjoyed our time on board, food was very good

Beautiful experience overall. The limestone scenery never got old and the crew were genuinely kind and enthusiastic. We particularly enjoyed the cooking class and the visit to the fishing village. Our only small complaint was that the departure briefing was quite rushed. Easy to overlook given how much we enjoyed everything else.

A flawless trip from embarkation to disembarkation

A honeymoon experience beyond our wildest dreams. The team discreetly decorated our cabin with rose petals and left a personalised card from the captain. The private dining experience on the deck was romantic beyond words. The whole trip felt personal and considered, not like a package product at all. We are already recommending this to everyone we know.

Okay experience – expected a little more for the cost

Three stars feels fair – some genuinely lovely moments, some disappointments. The staff were always polite and the setting is obviously world-class. The food ranged from excellent (the steamed fish with ginger) to quite poor (the breakfast buffet was limited and lukewarm). Kayaking through the lagoon was a wonderful experience. Worth doing, but higher standards would have been achievable at this price.

Pure luxury on the emerald waters

The scenery alone would make this cruise worth it, but the exceptional service takes it to an entirely different level. Our cabin steward kept our room in perfect condition and was always discreet. The dining team made excellent recommendations each evening and dietary requirements were handled without any fuss. A first-class experience from beginning to end.

Very enjoyable cruise with just a few minor niggles

An enjoyable and memorable experience. Highlights included the kayaking through the arches, the sunset cocktails, and the genuinely impressive seafood dinner. Our cabin was comfortable and the bathroom well-appointed. I'd have loved slightly more time at some of the scenic spots, but this is a small gripe in the context of an otherwise wonderful trip.

An unforgettable journey through Vietnam's karst landscape

This cruise delivered on every promise and then some. The natural beauty of the bay is staggering, but what really sets this cruise apart is the quality of the team. From the chef to the housekeeping staff to the excursion guides, everyone was exceptional. The timetable was perfectly paced – never rushed, never boring. An absolute masterpiece of a journey.

Highly recommended with a couple of small reservations

Wonderful trip that came very close to perfection. The cabin was spacious and clean, and the daily fresh fruit arrangement was a lovely touch. Food quality was high – especially the seafood dishes. We would have appreciated slightly more flexibility in the excursion schedule as we felt a little rushed at one or two stops. That aside, an excellent cruise we would happily book again.

The most beautiful seascape we have ever cruised

We have been planning this trip for three years and it lived up to every expectation. The scenery is jaw-dropping – no photograph really does it justice. The cabin was immaculate and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in on any cruise. The sunset cocktail hour on the top deck is not to be missed. Book this cruise. You will not regret it for a single moment.

Great value and genuinely breathtaking scenery

We really enjoyed our time aboard and the scenery was every bit as spectacular as described. The cabin was comfortable and our steward was attentive and friendly. The food was generally very good, though the dinner menu on the second night felt a little repetitive. The sunset cruise on the upper deck was a real highlight. Overall a very positive experience and we would recommend it without hesitation.
